Floods Minister breaks ground on Boston Barrier

On Monday 22nd January, Matt welcomed Floods Minister Dr Thérèse Coffey MP to the site of the new Boston Barrier.

The barrier, which is due for completion by December 2019, will protect 14,000 homes from flooding as well as providing Boston with one of the highest standards of flood protection in the country.

Matt said,

“I was delighted to break ground on the Boston Barrier project on Monday with Floods Minister Dr Thérèse Coffey, which at £100m is the government biggest investment in Boston’s history. While plans had been in place for some years prior, the 2013 tidal surge cemented the need for such a barrier, which will help protect 14,000 homes and businesses in Boston from flooding upon its completion. I look forward to following progress on the work over the coming months.”
